I think whomever buys those is a lot more optimistic than I am! Somehow I think if you can use a DVD player or an LCD screen, you really don't need to be in a coffin.
thecrotchetyoldcynic - October 30, 2013, 2:04 am
FANTASTIC! 5L What I don't understand are the coffins with the LCD screens and DVD players.

That's OK, I wasn't offended (-:
thecrotchetyoldcynic - August 16, 2013, 5:21 pm
It figures that other countries would discover and try to eradicate cancer before America. The US was too busy with other frivolous endeavors; specifically building the A-bomb. But that's interesting, didn't know that.
thecrotchetyoldcynic - August 16, 2013, 5:16 pm
Cancer, then, is a PC term for death... and tuberculosis.
lgvernon - August 16, 2013, 12:44 pm

'Consumption' meant end-stage tuberculosis, when the disease actually consumed the lungs. The term was broadly used Over time, the various cultures of the world gave the illness different names: yaksma (India), phthisis (Greek), consumptione (Latin)
lgvernon - August 16, 2013, 12:41 pm

'Consumption' was the name they gave tuberculosis. It was HIppocrates who actually gave cancer a name, although physicians had known of its existence for a long time, even then. Greeks referred to cancer as 'karkinos'...

You are so right, Cloud. It doesn't take Nostrodomous to see that something worse than the ebola virus is slowly incubating on this planet. And like 1918, all it's going to take to activate it is a little sneeze.
CloudchaserS - August 16, 2013, 12:28 am
And when we have easy cures and preventatives for all forms of cancer, nature will find new ways to kill us in the form of diseases we previously did not live long enough to develop.
thecrotchetyoldcynic - August 15, 2013, 11:59 pm
Consumption? How long ago was that?
Reality Lord - August 15, 2013, 8:19 pm

they called it "consumption" back then.

Then who the hell could that be? Not Sybie, and probably not Georgie. Ah, maybe Edith's bastard, being raised by the farmer. It's practically a newborn. But Georgie dying would throw the inheritance into doubt again.
Rick69 - August 3, 2014, 10:35 am
I try...
GaryO - August 3, 2014, 9:59 am
Meant the ‘Miss Carla’ ref. Nice try at evasive ambiguity, though.
Rick69 - August 3, 2014, 8:19 am
Huh, hope that's not the case. Last poster I made was over 3 months ago. Things get in the way of the internet. Regulars always tend to return.
Silverheart - August 3, 2014, 8:03 am

Why is Carla tagged? Is she really gone for good?
Rick69 - August 3, 2014, 5:33 am
It is a story consisting of 6 words. Hence, 6-word-stories. There are more.
Rick69 - August 3, 2014, 5:32 am
Good eye, it is a screen-grab from that very show... I think. I've never seen the show but the site where I got the picture confirms your thought.
Greybeard - August 2, 2014, 10:57 pm
6 tiny words that say so much. Powerfully sad.

What they don't tell you is that every coffin had a living stool pigeon sealed inside. So, eat up! Every margarita you eat saves a guido from messing up his Forzieri's while digging a shallow grave.
